The article was quite interesting. Good going...
I would like to draw your attention towards an article on “Inventions that revolutionised the world”. Every schoolchild knows that the scientific genius and inventor, Thomas Alva Edison invented the light bulb in 1879. Though the credit to make electric bulbs commercially viable goes to him, many believe that he did not invent the bulb and bought patents from those who did.

@redsonic: I didn't see the vendor ID come out in /var/log/messages. I think that's because it hadn't been added to the udev file yet.

thanks for this article.
And many thanks to Rene because just restarting udev is sufficient.

BTW, you can discover the vendor id by looking at /var/log/messages once you plugged the phone

keep the good work ;)

The command "sudo service udev restart" will also suffice instead of a restart.

I do agree with most of the poits you've made. The only one I could argue - what if Russia went to the Moon first. See, the fact that Gagarin was the first in space, prompted US to go further. So, if a Russian was on the Moon first, US would have set even bigger goal.

I think, when one is motivated by a grand idea or vision, it always benefits all, not just one. But, if you only think of your "own" benefit, it most likely will harm the rest.
